While it’s been a relief to see SNAP recipients get their full benefits this month, the community remains concerned about benefits moving forward. The threat of losing these benefits so suddenly has shaken us, and we no longer can be sure of the stability of programs like SNAP that over 16% of our population count on. During the SNAP crisis, we called on our community to help supplement the expected increase in need, and the community answered-individuals donated, businesses hosted food drives, grocery stores and food sources increased their food donations. We’re incredibly grateful. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we rely on donations and grants to serve the community. We have a strong network and a caring community, and we will leverage that support in the face of any future obstacles to providing emergency food.
